The Charité Centre for Global Health (CCGH), which Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin established in January 2023, aims to develop strong internal, local, national and international activities and partnerships in the field of global health and to support and promote research, teaching and collaboration with politics and all stakeholders in the field of global health. The Center combines the Institute of Virology, the Institute of International Health (formerly the Institute of Tropical Medicine and International Health) and the Global Engagement Unit. As part of the Global Health Policy Lab (GHPL) initiative, the CCGH collaborates with the Virchow Foundation, the Harvard Health Systems Innovation Lab (HSIL), and other international partners. The GHPL is looking for an experienced scientist in health policy to be based at the CCGH.

The successful candidate will have a solid background in health policy and come with a high degree of motivation and self-sufficiency, to work independently as well as part of a team

In this role, the candidate will contribute to the delivery of the GHPL’s goals, in collaboration with internal and external partners

A key element of the position will be to contribute to ongoing activities, particularly the development of the annual outlook report of policy trends and the GHPL digital repository

This involves analysing and evaluating health policies, drafting analytic policy-relevant reports and other communication outputs, as well as developing impact narratives on policy-making in global health

The incumbent will participate in project management and conduct, tracking and documenting progress, adapting communications materials for various audiences, organising or facilitating face-to-face and online workshops or policy dialogue events on selected aspects of health policy

In addition, the successful candidate will contribute towards building and maintaining strategic partnerships with global and regional stakeholders from different sectors (international organisations, academia, civil society organisations, government agencies and industry)

The successful candidate will be expected to keep abreast of new policy developments including digital tools, and participate in relevant events or conferences, and collaborative visits as needed

A doctoral degree in health policy, public policy, public health, global health, medicine, epidemiology, international relations, or equivalent professional experience in a subject with a strong public health policy component

Demonstrated professional experience in health policy with technical knowledge of principles and methods in health policy or public health management

Strong analytical skills as applied to health policies and experience in collecting, interpreting and analysing health statistics

Strong organisational and project management skills

Outstanding communication skills, with proven ability to produce high quality written outputs, e.g. reports or publications

Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders in multicultural inter-disciplinary environments

Excellent spoken and written English language skills
The successful candidate will likely also have:

Experience working with(in) WHO, the UN or other international organisations or governments

Experience in working on health issues and/or policy implementation in different countries would be an asset

Evidence of prior interest in global health epidemiology would be advantageous
