Key pillars of the Foundation’s activities includes the awarding of the Virchow Prize and the Global Health Policy Lab.
The Virchow Prize is an international award that recognizes and celebrates groundbreaking research, major innovations and outstanding contributions with significant impact on the broad health challenges we face as a global community.
The ‘Global Health Policy Lab’ (GHPL) aims to be the leading AI-enabled platform designed for health policy-making, providing comprehensive tools for accessing, comparing, and generating evidence-driven health policies, supported by an inter-disciplinary team of global health, policy and technology experts.
About the role
Virchow Foundation | Communications & Social Media
- Translate promotional content to the Virchow Foundation newsletter and send out to subscribers and partners.
- Stay up-to-date on global health news and trends and translating into creative social content.
- Support in the development of press releases and work with external colleagues to disseminate to targeted media contacts and partners.
- Work with external partners and collaborators in developing original content as well as fostering new relationships to find success stories or activities relevant to our audience.
- Material preparation and award ceremony support; serve as the link between the Foundation and relevant partners on external communications and graphic design topics.
- Develop the VF newsletter, utilizing CRM Microsoft Dynamics platform to send out mass communications and marketing campaigns.
- Maintain the VF website.
- Support the creation and implementation of pre-event campaigns, drawing attention to the upcoming Virchow Prize Ceremony and key partnership activities.
- Creating, maintaining, and updating social media calendars.
- Take ownership and management of all social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube) to increase visibility and brand awareness.
- Planning, developing, and managing original and relevant content for target audiences across all social media channels.
Global Health Policy Lab | Communications
- Co-develop a communications strategy with the Executive Director, including an evaluation of communications channels, stakeholder mapping, calendar of events, launch campaign for key events or outputs, social media posts, media engagement.
- Lead the further development and updating of the GHPL website including proposals for content for news/resources page and explanatory video, consideration for logo graphic.
- Organising, structuring and developing comms materials (text, graphics, photos, video, logos, templates).
- Take ownership and management of all social media to increase visibility and brand awareness.
Events & project management
Support with event and project management around key VF & GHPL events, especially leading up to the annual Virchow Prize award ceremony.
Skills & experiences
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Verbal and written fluency in both German and English (C2).
- Proactive and able to work autonomously with minimal direction.
- Outstanding organisational, time, and project management skills.
- Advanced MS Office skills (especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and experience with Canva and WordPress.
