Rising international health expert, Hiba Boujnah, to host the Virchow Prize 2024

Berlin, September 24, 2024 – The Virchow Foundation is honoured to announce that Hiba Boujnah will host the Virchow Prize 2024 Award Ceremony celebrating Lucy Gilson and Johan Rockström.

As an emerging global leader in public diplomacy and sustainable development, Dr Boujnah is fluent in multiple languages and widely recognized for her exceptional cross-cultural communication skills. Her career has spanned leading institutions such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the African Union, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, where she has significantly contributed to shaping global public health policies and frameworks. A global citizen and inspiring intercultural leader, Dr. Boujnah has received numerous prestigious honours, including the Fulbright Scholarship (2016) and the UN Alliance of Civilizations Fellowship (2022).

The Virchow Prize with 250 international high-level guests from all sectors is held at Rotes Rathaus, the Berlin City Hall, on Saturday, October 12, at 17:00 CET and will be livestreamed. President of the German Bundestag, Bärbel Bas, is High Patron of the Prize which is endowed with €500,000 this year. Read the official press release announcing Ms Bas as High Patron.
