From Berlin to the World: Governing Mayor of Berlin, Franziska Giffey, to give Welcome Note  at the Virchow Prize for Global Health Award Ceremony 

Berlin, September 22, 2022 – The Virchow Foundation for Global Health is honoured to announce the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Mrs. Franziska Giffey, will give an opening speech at the 2022 Virchow Prize for Global Health Award Ceremony.

Berlin witnessed a historical moment when Mayor Giffey was sworn into office in 2021. As the first woman elected to the position, Mayor Giffey has displayed committed leadership towards creating a more sustainable city for its residents. Mayor Giffey’s participation in the Virchow Prize for Global Health Ceremony highlights the shared importance of advancing global health for Berlin and for the Virchow Foundation for Global Health, which has established its offices in the capital.

The 2022 Virchow Prize for Global Health, held under the High Patronage of the German Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will be awarded to Dr. John N. Nkengasong on October 15 at 18:00 CET in Berlin.
