Pradeep Kakkattil is a serial social entrepreneur and global health and innovation leader. He is the Founder and CEO of the Health Innovation Exchange (HIEx) a unique platform connecting political leadership with innovators and investors in scaling healthcare access in low- and middle-income countries. He is also co-founder of the Women in Innovation Fund (WiNFUND) that advocates for equitable access to financing for women led health enterprises and invests in women led health enterprises in Africa and Asia. Given the negative impact of climate on health, he co-created the Climate Health Innovation and Equity Fund (CHIEF) that focuses on leveraging the power of AI and investing in the intersection of climate and health with a particular emphasis on impact of climate on women’s health.
Pradeep has worked on health and development over the last three decades including with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) based in Geneva, Switzerland, where he served in several senior functions including as Director and Senior policy Adviser to the Executive Director. He steered UNAIDS engagement in the successful adoption by member states of the 2016 UN General Assembly High Level Political Declaration on ending AIDS. A former journalist and filmmaker, Pradeep serves on several Advisory Boards including the Graduate Institute in Geneva and is a founding member of the Board of the Geneva Innovation Network. He co-edited the Elsevier published book Resilient Health: Leveraging Technology and Social Innovations to Transform Healthcare for COVID-19 Recovery and Beyond. He is a recipient of the Schwab Foundation/ WEF Public Intrapreneur 2022 award.
