Ayoade Alakija, WHO’s Special Envoy for the ACT-Accelerator and Co-Chair of Triple I, to host the 2023 Virchow Prize for Global Health Award Ceremony

Berlin, September 28, 2023 – We are pleased to announce that Dr Ayoade Alakija, WHO’s Special Envoy for the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT – Accelerator), Co-Chair of the newly established Triple I for Global Health, Chair of the African Vaccine Delivery Alliance and FIND, will serve as Master of Ceremony for the 2023 Virchow Prize for Global Health. These pivotal roles highlight Dr Alakija’s continuous active influence in global health.

Spanning continents and amassing over two decades of experience, her journey across multiple continents has been nothing short of inspiring. As a dedicated medical doctor, Dr Ayoade Alakija’s advocacy for equitable healthcare access, especially during these unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic, is unparalleled. She is a guiding force in the global conversation on health inequities and the collective action required to address them.

Rose Gana Fomban Leke will be awarded the 2023 Virchow Prize for Global Health, held under high patronage of Bärbel Bas, President of the German Bundestag, on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
